Booking conditions and Cancellation policies

Horse Trek’n operates in all safe weather conditions though we do accept that not everyone likes to ride in heavy rain! If you an unsure of the weather conditions prior to your ride we encourage you to give us a call, we are placed higher up in the bay than surrounding areas so are often high and dry even when rain is forecast.

We do offer the opportunity to re-schedule your ride with us due to weather conditions or other reasons but you must provide us with at least 24 hours notice prior to your ride departure. Please note that this will also be subject to availability.

Bookings are accepted by Horse Trek’n (the operator) when payment in full has been received.

Reservation holding is available should you wish to pay cash on the day – however at the point of reservation we will require valid credit card details to hold the reservation on your behalf. You accept liability that reservation no-shows will be charged at 25% of the value of the booking.

Cancellation Policy

We have a strict 24 hour notice period for client cancellations if you wish to receive a full refund. Any cancellations within 24 hours will be taken on a case by case basis as staff have been booked and other clients turned away. You will be given the option to reschedule your ride – subject to availability.

A full refund is available in the event of Horse Trek’n Limited cancelling a trek for reasons other than the client’s responsibility; (weather, blocked tracks, staff illness, horse’s illness etc….).

Do I get a refund if I back-out before the ride?

We don’t want you to ride if you are frightened. Horseback riding should be fun and enjoyable and we make every effort to ensure everyone has a great time. However we have reserved your horse for you, fed him, turned away other riders, tacked up your horse for you – it often takes us an hour to prepare before a ride at least, and an hour afterwards.

Therefore, we ask that you pay for your ride if you back out or only take part of the ride.

What happens if you don’t turn up for your ride?

A lot of work goes into preparing our horses for each ride, therefore we are not able to offer a refund for “no shows”. At peak times of the year we have wait lists in operation and we cannot re-assign your horse if you do not let us know you won’t be coming in advance.

If you cannot make your ride for whatever reason please let us know 24 hours in advance and we are happy to work out another suitable time for you.

What happens if I am late arriving?

All riders are required to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the departure of the ride, this is to review and sign necessary safety documents, fit safety equipment and also undergo a safety briefing.

If you are running please please phone us to let us know at the earliest opportunity.

If you arrive late to your ride, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to ride, this will be dependent on if other people are present in your group – it is unfair of us to ask other paying customers who are on time to wait.

If you are unable to ride due to being late, you may be offered an alternative booking subject to booking conditions at the time – should you not wish to take this booking all refunds will be treated in-line with the cancellation policy outlined above.


Terms & Conditions

Client bookings are accepted on the understanding that they appreciate the possible risks inherent in adventure travel specifically on and around horses, and that they undertake our tours at their own volition.

All clients are required to sign our safety disclaimer on the day – which can be viewed in advance here.

Agreement between Customer and Horse Trek’n Limited

This Website is offered to you, the Customer, conditional on your acceptance without modification of the terms, conditions, and notices contained herein. Your use of this Web site constitutes your agreement to all such terms, conditions, and notices.

Reservations & Payments

At the time of booking online, payment by credit card shall be made for the full amount of each booking in New Zealand dollars. You will then receive a booking confirmation and reference number for each booking. You will need to use that reference should you wish to refer to your booking(s) at a later date.

Amendments & Cancellations

Where you are entitled to a refund, the refund will be made to the same credit card that you used to confirm the booking. For amendments of bookings, additional charges, or a refund, may apply depending on the nature of the booking amendment.

No Shows

No refunds or credits will be provided if you fail to advise any amendments to the booking or fail to report at the venue of the operator with the appropriate vouchers issued for that booking on the day and/or time booked.

Currency & GST

All prices shown listed on this Web site are in New Zealand dollars. All prices include the New Zealand Goods and Services Tax.


We have taken all practicable steps from both a technical and systems perspective to ensure that all of your information is securely protected.  We may need to contact you via email or telephone if there are matters affecting your booking or if you choose to make amendments or cancellations.

Such information will not be held any longer than is required by Horse Trek’n Limited.

A secure payment gateway is used to process all transactions and credit card details.
