The best way to chill out before the big matches. 3 of the official referees for the RWC enjoyed their time on our beautiful horses. We had to pull the “big girls” out of the paddock though! (Roxane and Savannah).

What a dream of hen party for Jo and friends - this was a great way to celebrate Jo’s forthcoming wedding. After a relaxing trek up to the volcano and down to the waterfront, the more experienced of the group took to the sea for a swimming session. Afterwards, Jo showed off her bareback skills while the rest of the group enjoyed well deserved cheese and wine.

Opua Primary School

Children area always enchanted by the ponies. We took them to Opua Primary School one day for a club day and as you can see it was a hit!

Supporting the Bay

From time to time, Horse Trekn takes part in charity events, galas, fundraising etc. Here’s one we did at our local school, Paihia Primary on 28 March 2009. Rides were sold at $2 each and all proceeds went to the Guardian s of the Bay.

Fabulous horse riding (horse trekking) in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. From the volcano to the sea, you’ll ride through the forest while enjoying beautiful farmland and ocean views.

Novice riders will be briefed and schooled on riding techniques before embarking on a quiet leisurely horse ride through the forest enjoying beautiful scenery, forestry ocean views and perhaps a splash into the sea at Wairoa Bay.

For more experienced groups we offer the opportunity to explore ridges and views over the Bay of Islands and surrounding areas. You may embark on a ride to the volcano, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking 360 views of the Pacific ocean, the islands and the pine forest.

Please note: Bookings are essential. We are open all year round, rides leave at 10am and 2pm daily.
